Message Immediate Past President Cookie Bijlani, President 2006/2007
It was a great Honor and Privilege to be the President of Rotary Sunrise Club for the year 2006-2007, which certainly would not have been possible without the support of my fellow Members.
It has been an exciting year for me as the President of our Club and in which year I am happy to say we were able to accomplish a lot.
And all the hard work we put in has been recognized by Rotary International and the District Governor. Our Club received the following awards and therewith Led the Way in our Region:
1) The PRESIDENTIAL CITATION AWARD from the President of Rotary International,
2) The DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S GOLD AWARD from the 7020 District Governor.
As the proud President that I am, I would like to highlight of the above mentioned accomplishments; a complete list you will find on this website:
Community Service: "To improve Life in the Community."
- Starlight Foundation School: - Repainting the Outside of the Building,
Vocational Service: "To encourage Rotarians to serve others."
- Panel Discussion on Juvenile Delinquency in the Community with the students of University of St.Martin.
Club Service: "To strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club." - Family Beach Party â¿¢ Mullet Bay
International Service: "Encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary's humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace." - A donation of Christmas Cards went to the Rotary Club in Argentina for their Christmas Project for the poor.
Now looking toward the future of our club I would like to present you with the following quote to think about:
"Action without vision is wasted and vision without action is just a dream. Action with vision brings hope to this world."
So Rotarians, let us all envision a better St. Maarten/St-Martin and a better world and put our visions in action so as to enlighten this world of ours.
