Project 1BVI enters its tenth year!
On Saturday 26th October, 2024 the Rotary Club of Road Town completed a series of community service events aimed at giving back and supporting the local community.
These initiatives focused on key areas including maternal and child health, mental health awareness, environmental sustainability, peace building, and water sanitation.
The following activities all took place on Saturday, engaging members of the organization and the community in the seven areas of focus of Rotary.
These projects were:
1. For Parents Workshop
This workshop aimed to equip new and expecting parents with essential knowledge and tools. The key topics included Maternal Mental Health, recognizing and managing Postpartum Depression, supportive partnership strategies, breastfeeding tips, and a guide on what to expect as families grow.
2. Mental Health First Aid for HR Professionals
This session was held to empower HR professionals with the knowledge to recognize and address mental health challenges in the workplace. It is hoped that this knowledge can then be utilized to foster awareness and provide practical strategies, enabling participants to be better equipped to create healthier, supportive work environments that enhance the well-being of their employees.
3. Installation of Peace Poles and School Beautification
At the Enis Adams and Ebenezer Thomas Primary Schools, Peace Poles were installed to promote harmony and unity. Each pole was imprinted with the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" displayed in multiple languages. Additionally, the area at the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School was beautified with Ixora Maui plants to create a welcoming environment that fosters learning and peace.
Unfortunately, due to rainfall, we were unable to complete the beautification process at the Enis Adams Primary School and have postponed it to another date.
4. Water Cooler Installation and Replacement
We also installed new water coolers to promote health and wellness among students and staff at the Ebenezer Thomas and Enis Adams Primary Schools. This initiative not only provides clean drinking water but also encourages eco-friendly practices by reducing the need for single-use plastic bottles.
5. Rotary Club of Road Town Grand Raffle
On Saturday afternoon members of the Rotary Club of Road Town were on location at the Bobby’s Supermarket Parking Lot to sell tickets for our Grand Raffle Fundraiser. We also completed our first drawing, where $1,000 cash prize was won. We say a huge thank you to those in the community who have supported our fundraising efforts.
Our second drawing is scheduled for 7th December 2024 with a $4,000 cash prize. At this time, tickets can be purchased from members of the Rotary Club of Road Town, however, we are currently working on providing a list of locations for ticket purchase and will provide that information to the public once it has been finalized.
