Rewarding a Lifetime of Giving
The Rotary Club of Road Town teamed up with Hon. Alvera Maduro-Caines, 6th District Rep, along with officers from the British Navy vessel, HMS Argy ll to help restore Ms. Barker's house in Purcell Estate.
Ms. Barker is fondly called Mother Martin and lives up to the name as she is a mother of so many besides her six biological children. She leads a group of senior men and women in a ministry at her church through the Sweet Anointed Praisers, which, at least two to three times a year, does community outreach in the Purcell area, providing free clothes and food to anyone in need.
On her weekends, Ms. Barker prepares food for a number of elderly residents out of her own resources and she does this with great joy.
