Peace Prayer Offered At Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park

With candles lit and a prayer by Bishop John Cline, Rotarians in the Virgin Islands gathered in the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park to commemorate peace.

 
District 7020 Governor, Mr. Vance Lewis stated that Rotary has played a very significant role in terms of peace promotion.

"Back in the 1940s Rotary played a significant role in joining the UN to bring about the UN charter and ending the second World War and since then we have had peace as part of our symbol. This year the District Conference which will be held in the BVI the symbol is the dove," Mr. Lewis stated at the conclusion of the ceremony, March 27.

He explained that the dove is a symbol of peace and the turtle dove is
synonymous with the BVI. Mr. Lewis explained that Bishop John was asked to pray for a the youth who are conflicted and are going through conflict resolution.

"Peace through service is also significant," Mr. Lewis stated which is the theme adopted by Rotary International President, Sakuji Tanaka.

"Rotarians are challenged to find ways to help people understand the significance of peace," Mr. Lewis stated.

President of the Rotary Club of Road Town, Mr. Trevor Grant who spearheaded the event explained that the peace prayer should become an annual event in the Virgin Islands.

He also stated that all residents should strive to ensure that they facilitate peace in their daily lives.
