Schools Can Win Cash Prize At Rotary's Annual Kite Flying Event

The Rotary Club of Road Town continues to promote the longstanding family tradition of kite flying and is inviting the entire community to its annual kite flying event at the Cruise Ship Pier in Road Town on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
The event is branded `Kites In The Sky´ and is opened to kite flyers of all ages with several giveaways in numerous categories.
For the first time since the event started more than five years ago, a special prize of $500 with be awarded to the school with the largest amount of participants (minimum of 10 persons) entering the competition.
Other prizes will be awarded for the Highest Flying Kite, Prettiest Kite, Largest Kite, Youngest Flyer, Best Local Kite, Longest Tail and Most Unusual Kite.
The fun starts at 11:00 a.m. with judging from 3:00 p.m.
Managing Director of Nagico Insurance BVI, Mr. Shan Mohamed is the Chairman of the Rotary Club of Road Town's Kite Flying Organizing Committee.
"Kite Flying has been a longstanding family tradition in the Virgin Islands and the Rotary Club of Road Town is pleased to provide the enabling environment for families to spend time together," Mr. Mohamed pointed out.
Mr. Mohamed stated that apart from the Kite Flying activities there will also be a play area for children and numerous other activities including an Easter Egg Hunt.
"We encourage everyone to come out to the Cruise Pier Area and socialize with other families especially our Rotary Club family. We want to see the creativity, the art and skill of kite flying being prominently displayed. Every kite flyer is eligible to enter the competition for a chance to win one of her remarkable prizes," Mr. Mohamed stated.
He added, "This year we have added a segment for schools because we must find ways to ensure that children are always included in what we do. The school with the most participants will be able to win $500 that they can use to fulfill an educational need at their school. Education is also an important aspect of Rotary Clubs in the Virgin Islands and throughout the world."
