Happy World Teacher’s Day!!! 🍎 ✏️

The Rotary Club of Road Town is happy to announce that the winner of our Second Annual “ My Favourite Teacher Competition” is Teacher, Laura Fox of Ciboney Centre For Excellence. The winning entry was submitted by Nicholas Moore and was chosen based on the compelling nature of the teacher, the sincerity of the student's appreciation and the quality of writing.

A copy of the winning entry follows:
Title: To Mrs Fox

I would like to tell you about my favorite teacher, Mrs. Laura Fox. She is the Principal, a teacher, and the energizer bunny of Ciboney Centre for Excellence on Virgin Gorda. I have known Mrs. Fox for six years and during that time, she has helped me to be a better person in life and to know that anything is possible if you believe it.

At school, Mrs. Fox taught me to appreciate reading and writing even though they are not my favorite subjects. She also shows us that it is not all about work and that you need to have fun in life too. You will often see her playing and jump roping in heels on the playground.

Mrs. Fox has influenced me and my classmates by showing us how to give back to the community and the elders. We help the community by cleaning trash on the beaches, and we make presents and visit the elders to show that we appreciate them.

Mrs. Fox deeply cares for the school and works really hard to make sure the school is in tip-top shape. We lost our school building after hurricane Irma, however Mrs. Fox showed us that the buildings do not make the school, it is the students and teachers that make the school thrive.

As you can see, my favorite teacher, Mrs. Fox has inspired me in many ways, including to be a better person, be a community helper, to work hard and also have fun in life.
