In 1992, the Rotary Club of Road Town became the first club in the BVI to accept women as members. Among the first to enter the club was Rtn. Margaret Penn, who made a special presentation at our club meeting of August 20.

She shared what it meant for women to become involved in Rotary at the time and the overall atmosphere of equality that existed.   PP Ronnie Skelton, was President at the time and he reminisced that women were a welcomed addition.  "If you want something done, ask a woman' he said "We guys tend to procrastinate a bit."   Since that time the club's gender ratio has shifted to almost 40% women and over its twenty three years of existence it has had six women presidents.  Progress never sleeps!
