On 22 March 2013 the members of the Enis Adams Primary School’s EarlyAct Club donated $2,000 to help their music Teacher, Mr Threcio Phillips, receive medical treatment overseas for cancer.

Since learning of Mr Phillips illness a few months ago the members of the Club have held morning vigils praying for his recovery.    Compelled to do more for their teacher, the Club, led by Fundraising and Club Service directors Ajyla Williams and Lekisha Lindo, held a Valentines Fair fundraiser to benefit Mr. Phillips.  The event was well supported by students and parents of the school.

The cheque for $2,000 was presented by the Club’s Vice President, Precious Estridge, to Mrs Tanika DeCastro-Phillips, for her husband, Threcio Phillips who is in Panama undergoing treatment.

EarlyAct is a Rotary sponsored school-based service club for elementary school students aged 5 to 12.   EarlyAct engages its members in character building activities and prepares them for leadership roles as they identify and carry out projects which benefit their school, community and global causes.  Aside from its community service projects, the EarlyAct Club at the Enis Adams Primary School is also well known for its cultural dance group which is regularly sought out to perform at shows and events.

The Club was chartered by the Rotary Club of Road Town in January 2011 with 30 members and is the first of its kind in the territory.  Since then two other EarlyAct Clubs have been chartered on Tortola, one at the Isabella Morris Primary School and the other at Ebenezer Thomas Primary School.

The members of the Enis Adams Primary School’s EarlyAct Club are asking the public to keep Mr Thecio Phillips, their music teacher, in its prayers. They are very much looking forward to his return to their school.
