Early Bird Grand Prize Winner
On Tuesday 4 December 2012, Stephanie George collected her First Prize raffle winnings of $1,500.00 at the Rotary Club of Road Town’s weekly meeting.
Ms George was one of three lucky winners pulled in the 24 November Early Bird draw at the Sir Olva Georges Plaza. The drawing took place during the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony organised by the Lions Club.
President Trefor in handing over the cheque to Ms George, thanked her for participating in the raffle and lauded the many other persons who had purchased tickets in support of the Club’s community service efforts. He also thanked the Lions Club for allowing the draw to take place at their event.
The annual raffle has been a big part of the Rotary Club of Road Town’s activities for the past 10 years and is used to raise funds for community projects. Some recipients of proceeds from prior raffles’ include the Peebles Hospital Dialysis Section, Enis Adams Primary School, Kids and the Sea (KATS), the Club’s annual Health Fair, the Right Start Programme, the Spelling Bee and many others. This year the Club is again focusing on purchasing another life saving machine for the dialysis unit.
The raffle tickets are sold for $5.00 each and come with valuable coupons that can be redeemed at local businesses. The ticket’s detachable sections offer 5% - 10% savings from Bobby's Supermarket, 5% savings at Rite Way Food Stores for purchases over $150.00 and 5% - 10% savings at each of Bucks Wholesale, Road Town Fast Ferry and Starworks Beauty Salon, Barber Shop & Spa.
Vice President Geraldeen encouraged members of the public to get their tickets early as the coupons are valid through to 31 January 2013.
The Grand Prize drawing for the raffle will be on Christmas Eve, Monday 24 December, and will feature many prizes, including a return airfare for two on Virgin Atlantic, a Kindle HD and a first place cash prize of $7,500.00.
This will take place outside Bobby’s Supermarket in Road Town. Tickets of the winners in the Early Bird drawing have been re-entered into the raffle for a chance to win big.
Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Rotary Club of Road Town and are on sale outside of Bobbies Market Place in Road Town and Rite Way Food Market in Pasea on Saturdays.
