Four-Way Test Essay Competition

The essay competition is open to all high school students (from grade 7 onwards)  in the British Virgin Islands.

Applicants are to write an essay consisting of 750 – 1000 words on Rotary’s Four-Way Test:Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENFICIAL to all concerned?

Essays will be judged on the following criteria:

1. Comprehension – How well does the essay reflect a thorough comprehension of the essay topic?

2. Organization – Does the essay follow a logical and easily understood progression?

3. Creativity – Use of diverse resources, including interviews. Creative angle on topic.

4. Writing – Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation. Concise language.

The closing date of the competition is November 30th 2014.

Entries which do not comply with the competition rules will be disqualified; Only one essay per entrant is allowed. Once an essay is submitted, students/teachers will not have the opportunity to revise it.

Please carefully check and improve your writing before submitting the final copy.
