SPEAKER – was a no-show but, Liz Behrens did a Classification Talk. Although a few had heard some of this many years ago, to most of us it was a delight to hear about the illustrious career Liz has had. Although Liz wanted to be a teacher she got involved in the health profession in cancer research at Victoria Hospital in London. She continued in the profession after moving to New York City and then back in Canada, working at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Liz then got involved in the founding of the Oakville Block Parent organization. Soon afterwards she got elected as a City Councilor. Her next move was to become the executive director of the Bronte Village BIA. Soon afterwards she became an Elections Officer. For the last 20 years Liz has been very active with the “Oakville Community Homes” in various capacities. A crowning achievement for Liz came when this organization was named “the Best Managed Community Homes Organization” in the Region.

George Farrow thanked the speaker. Having been with our Rotary club since 1961, George has known Liz since the 60s.

50-50 DRAW:

Neil Smith won $22.

President Rudy closed the meeting with a toast to Friends and Rotarians around the world.
