James Montague • District conference October 4. Keynote speakers include an inspirational 911 Survivor and a Polio Survivor, who is currently a District Governor in the Yukon. We also have a Peace Fellow coming from Toronto, as another keynote. George Farrow • The annual seniors BBQ at Stewart St. will be on Wednesday. Sid Joshi - Update on the RCO Charitable Fund • Took over from George Vincent on July 1. • Streamlined donation approval process. • All committees now using unified forms. • Exploring automation options. Michael Conway - International Service Committee Nairobi project update • Partnered with Nairobi club for school project. • Added solar panels in August 2024. • Final report available – email Michael for a copy. Karla - Environmental Committee • First meeting on August 1 at Queen’s Pub, Oakville. • Open to ideas and new members. Ralf Soeder • Thanked a couple of key members who helped to make the merger between RCO and RCOW run smoothly • Introduced our Pod meeting duties and asked members to support their Pod Captain by volunteering for duties each meeting. Fine Master/Happy Bucks: Gary Comerford - Happy Bucks included: Rod - trip back to the UK for his mother’s 90th birthday - Fines: Gary asked questions relating to Rotary and the world today, and 100 years ago. Our Speaker today was Lynn Childs who talked about her amazing experiences at the RI Convention this year. Lynn also introduced the goals for the club. Club Presidents set these goals every year. Club Goals & Vision Membership & Participation • Goal: 8 new members (currently 56). • Increase visibility via social media and website. • Encourage participation in events like Global Medic, golf tournament, auctions. Fundraising & Contributions • Annual Fund: $1,400 target (14 members x $100). • Polio Plus Society: $100/year commitment. • Major Gifts: Encouraged for specific projects or general support. Social & Service Activities • Goal: 6 social events. • Goal: 5 service projects (local & international). • Encourage fellowship and networking. Online Presence • Goal: 24 posts across platforms. • Recent improvements noted – thanks to Rod, Carla, and others. Youth & Leadership • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards: Goal of 3 participants. • Fellowship opportunities: wine, yoga, scuba, etc. Other Goals • Update club bylaws (last revised in 2009). • District Conference attendance: minimum 6 members. • Use official Rotary promotional materials. • Media stories: target of 12. • Engage with Rotary Action Groups (RAGs). RI Convention Highlights • Attended Rotary International Convention in Calgary. • Met Rotarians from around the world. • Participated in sessions on club culture, recruitment, and polio eradication. • Tried a VR experience showing polio vaccination efforts. • Encouraged members to attend future conventions and join fellowships. Birthdays • July birthdays acknowledged. • Members asked to update their profiles (ClubRunner) with birth dates. • Final remarks and the Four-Way Test to close the meeting.
