President Mitch Sabsabi opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. - The meeting began with a Land Acknowledgement by George Vincent.
- Rudy Habesch led the singing of O Canada.
- Richard Roberts gave the invocation.
Dinner was served. Bob Dodds reported on the legal issue involving a tenant at Normandy Place.
He also announced the Housing Board’s decision to sell Centennial Towers. [Reminder: this information is still confidential at this stage of the disposal process]. Mike Henry reported that Martin Reist, a member of the Community Service Committee, has resigned. An Environmental Committee led by Karla Cabrera will be established in the coming Rotary year. Please let Karla know if you would like to be a member of this committee, or if you would like to know more about her plans. Lindsay James was inducted as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Oakville.
She expressed her appreciation of being welcomed into the club. Larry Rodrigue collected Happy Bucks and Fines. Gary Comerford conducted the Annual General Meeting of the RC Foundation, a quorum being present.
Paul Bannon, RCOF Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting. Here is a summary of the AGM and the post-AGM update given by Gary: - Gary gave background information about the founding of the Foundation and its status as an independent organization.
- He reported on the current financial status and the responsibilities concerning CRA requirements.
- A clean audit was made for the past year.
- The Foundation in future will give payments twice a year to the Charitable Fund of the Rotary Club of Oakville which will then be responsible to meet the CRA requirements and maintain a clean audit.
- Frank Morewood and Richard Roberts have agreed to continue on the Board for one additional year.
- New Board members will be added in the coming year and a review of investment management services will be made.
President Mitch thanked Gary for his presentation and closed the meeting with a toast to Friends and Rotarians around the World. |
