RCO Bulletin May 5, 2025
President Mitch called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and toasted the King and Canada.

The Land Acknowledgement was read by Nancy and Frank led us in the singing of the National Anthem. The invocation was then delivered by Lynn.
Twenty-one members were in attendance.

Announcements
  • Lynn reminded everyone of the Rotary Leadership Training taking place this coming Saturday and car pooling was discussed. A subsequent email went out from Mike Henry advising all club members of the upcoming event. About 11 club members have signed up to attend.
  • Mitch announced that the Centennial Gala evening was a big success. About 200 people attended - far exceeding the 150 expected by the event’s planning committee. Mahendra informed the members that with the higher attendance, the event was essentially a break-even endeavour versus a $10,000 loss which the planning committee had budgeted for.
Happy Bucks and Fines
Frank was the fine master for the evening and we had many happy members. Some of these included:
  • Lynn who was happy her backyard pool was opened and patio furniture set up
  • George Farrow was happy to announce that his second great grandson was arriving tomorrow!
  • Larry was happy that the Winnipeg Jets actually won a playoff round
  • Similarly, Bob was happy that his Leafs did the same
  • Mike announced to all that Lindsay James has been approved for membership and will become our 41st member.
For fines Frank concentrated on questions concerning the Federal governments contribution to Polio Plus – both recently and cumulatively. Of note, our federal government has contributed over $1 Billion to Polio Plus over the years.
