Introduced the speaker Ted Murison, of Oakville Historical Society. Ted is also the owner of Murison Renovations in Oakville, specializing in the documentation and renovation of historic properties. One example of Ted’s work is the Waldie Blacksmith Shop in Milton. Ted studied architecture in England.

The Oakville Historical Society preserves and promotes historical heritage of the Town of Oakville, Ontario.The Waldie Blacksmith Shop preserves an important link to one of the earliest and most vital businesses in the history of Ontario. It is one of the oldest operating blacksmith shops in the province that remains in its original location. After operating continuously from 1865 right up until the 1970s, the shop lay dormant for several years. In 1999, however, the Milton Historical Society and a group of determined volunteers restored and rebuilt it, transforming it into an educational venue, living history museum, and home to the Society and its archives.
Ted’s talk covered the history of the earliest settlements in Oakville, Starting at the Palermo Village. Ted’s architectural background and his passion for the history of old home construction methods made the presentation especially interesting.
