Colin Scobie, Chair of ESRAG Oceania and Peter Row, ESRAG Member and Media Director for the Rotary Club of Redcliffe Sunrise club met with Kerri-Anne Dooley MP, the then new elected representative for Redcliffe on 9 January 2025.
The meeting's aim was to foster collaboration and share Rotary’s ambitious environmental-sustainability plans for 2025.
Collaboration, Advocacy, Facilitation, Education
Guided by the theme "Collaborate, Advocate, Facilitate, and Educate," ESRAG outlined a roadmap to engage the community and garner support for its environmental initiatives. As citizen scientists and environmental advocates, the group presented a vision to enhance sustainability and conservation across the region. Key projects for 2025 included:
- Adopt-Humpybong Creek Landcare Group: Focused on removing weeds, controlling exotic pests, and restoring the creek’s natural environment.
- Clean Up Australia Day: Litter collection along the creek as part of Australia Day celebrations.
- Redcliffe Beautiful Beaches: A three-month pilot project to clean Scarborough Beach, Queens Beach North, and Queens Beach, with support from local councillors.
- Moreton Bay Turtle Symposium: Featuring renowned researcher Dr. Colin Limpus and other turtle conservation experts.
- Turtle Family Fun Day: A follow-up community awareness event at Queens Beach North, following the inaugural event in April 2024.
- Monthly Eco-Forums: Hosted at the Deception Bay Environmental Hub, these forums spotlighted researchers from academia, government, industry and citizen scientists.
- Moreton Bay Sea Country Showcase: Featuring the latest research and innovation from The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) marine research cluster leads.
Support for Sustainability
Local MP Kerri-Anne Dooley praised Rotary’s efforts, stating:

Colin Scobie, Chair of ESRAG Oceania, emphasized the organisation's mission:
