Rotary Club Makes a $5,000 Difference to Brain Research
This Rotary Club is proud to have effectively contributed $5,000 to the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) through the University of Queensland's Brain Research Endowment Fund Giving Day campaign.
Our club's $2,500 donation was doubled through the Giving Day matching arrangement, enabling us to make twice the impact. In recognition of this contribution, our club is a QBI Change Maker, supporting the QBI Endowed Chair Break Through Project and its commitment to advancing brain research.
Turning Community Fundraising into Meaningful Impact
The decision to support QBI reflects our club's commitment to directing funds and volunteer efforts towards initiatives that can make a lasting difference in people's lives.
Dementia and other conditions affecting brain health have a growing impact on individuals, families and communities. Research is essential to improving our understanding of these conditions and helping advance future approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Our contribution to QBI is one way our club can help support this important work while raising awareness of dementia and the importance of brain health in our local community.
Building Awareness Through Education
Our support for brain research complements the club's commitment to community education. In November, members will hear from two speakers with valuable insights into dementia and related research.
Dr Bethlyn Gill, from Geriatric Services at Redcliffe Hospital, will discuss dementia, falls, delirium, warning signs and available assistance. Dr Daniel Blackmore, from the Queensland Brain Institute at The University of Queensland, will share insights into his research.
Together, these activities provide an opportunity to connect community awareness with the scientific research needed to address the challenges of dementia and other brain conditions.
Thank You to Our Supporters
This contribution has been made possible through the fundraising efforts of our members and the support of our local community.
Whether through our weekly meat raffle at the Belvedere Hotel or other club activities, every contribution helps us turn community generosity into practical outcomes.
We are proud to be a QBI Change Maker and to support research that offers hope for a better understanding of brain health and the challenges faced by people living with dementia and their families.
Rotary — making a difference in our community and beyond.
