One hundred and fifteen ‘waste warriors’ picked up litter from both banks of Humpybong Creek on Saturday, March 1.
This is the 36th year Clean Up Australia day has been held.
Participants comprised locals and some from farther afield.
Teachers and students from Clontarf Beach State High School and St Benedict's Catholic Primary School at Mango Hill filled the ranks.
Some parents accompanied their children.
Other families — mum, dad and children---- were also represented.
Lauren Zillmann (President), Amie Ito (Vice President) and Michael Robinson (Secretary) from the Redcliffe State High Rotary Interact Club also 'put in the hard yards'.
Emma Comer MP, Federal member for Petrie and Kerrie-Anne Dooley MP, State member for Redcliffe donned the gloves.
As did Rotarians, Ian Sutherland, Bernard van den Bergen (President of the Kippa-Ring and North Lakes Club), Paul Harcombe (President of the Redcliffe Sunrise Club) and his wife Barsha.
The prize for the largest item retrieved goes to MP Emma Comer for chambering through the undergrowth to retrieve a well used and smelly wheelie bin. ( getting a boot full of water in the process :-)
Colin Scobie mastered the organisation and heavy lifting and Peter Row kept things ticking.
