By creating an environment that focuses on positive change and growth, Whaley Children’s Center is a source of hope, care, and treatment to Michigan’s abused, neglected, and at risk children and families. Currently the center has about 48 children between the ages of 5-17 with the average age of 10. The campus has a variety of residences based on the child’s needs. Local clubs have helped with the housing such as the Optimist, Kiwanis, and Rotary clubs, as well as other sponsors.

The children will learn basic life skills and are able to feel safe and protected from their past experiences by the fully trained and dedicated staff who work around the clock to keep their mission alive. The staff will teach them independent living skills; help them develop personal responsibilities in understanding their own personal life situations and to empower them to become successful leaders.  Once the child has a better understanding of their situations and not every adult will let them down they will be set up with a foster family.
