Lisa Hagel, new Superintendent for the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) shared a bit about herself and an update about learning in Genesee County.

Lisa is a Genesee county native, and has served 26 years in education in both the Fenton and Mt. Morris School districts.  She is a member of the Kiwanis Club (and past Club President) and is a strong supporter of community involvement.

The GISD serves 83,000 students and is focusing on four key areas:  education and achievement, marketing, customer service and technology.  The GISD provides business services to 12 school districts and technology services to 8 school districts.

One of the key service areas for the GISD is online learning.  Students, with the approval of their school, can take classes online from home.  Each student has a certified teacher "mentor" who works with the student.
