Club Committee Updates

Last week was our first committee meetings of the year.  Several committees met and provided the following updates:

Golf Outing - Chair - Jeff Bennett

Golf outing fundraiser is Friday, July 15, 2011 at Sugarbush Golf Course in Davison.  Pricing for corporate and tee sponsors will remain the same as in 2010.  The committee is targeting to obtain 25 corporate sponsors and 60 tee/green sponsors.  All members are asked again to obtain 4 door prizes, valued at $20 each.  The outing will also include a silent auction of various items (which members help is needed to obtain).

Community Service - Al Tucker

The committee agreed to having a team of Rotarians ring bells again for the Salvation Army Christmas campaign at the Walmart in Grand Blanc.  Note - Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 3-9 pm has been selected.  We need 2 Rotarians per hour to man the kettle; a sign-up sheet will be circulating at future meetings.

The committee is also looking to identify a Community Service project geared toward youth.  Anyone with ideas should forward them to Al Tucker.  The committee would like to make this an annual event.

Grants Committee - Ginger Virkler

The "call" for grant applications will begin on Monday, January 3, 2011.  Notification will be sent out via the media and also to United Way (who was helpful last year in getting out the word to non-profit agencies).  The deadline for grant application submission will be Friday, February 25, 2011.  The May 11, 2011 meeting has been designated the meeting to award the checks to the recipients.  $11,000 is the amount that the committee will be distributing (which is from this past summer's golf outing).

Public Relations - Ashoka Rao

Ashoka Rao asked all club members to consider using the Club Bulletin as a means to get information out about their business or organization.  Information can be emailed to Ginger Virkler at glvirk@gmail.com.   She also mentioned that the committee will develop and get out a timeline when information would need to be submitted to the committee for development and distribution of press releases to the media.

Club Administration Committee - Gloria Dehart

Gloria indicated there are still openings for speakers for our December meetings and also dates in 2011.  Contact Gloria if you have any ideas for speakers or topics.  Her email is gdehart@wingateflint.com.
