Why I Became a Rotarian...Secretary Cassie
Years before becoming a Rotarian Sec. Cassie never had the time as she was engaged in her retail business, although she knew about Rotary and had friends as members who would invite her to a meeting. It wasn't until after she sold the business and took three (3) years off to do all the things she never had time to do that she began to volunteer at SeaView Nursing Home. At that time, she also
trained and ran her 1st marathon.
That's where she met Susan MacFarland, then a member of Rotary II, who invited her to a meeting. She felt at home and enjoyed the diversity of members along with the dedication to helping others. Susan invited her back and when it appeared the membership was interested in her becoming a member she revisited another club where her friend had invited her years before to make sure and in all fairness, St; Thomas II was her choice. It was and still is today. It was sad when Susan left to start another club. She felt she was losing her mentor and support system, but it wasn't long before Rotarians Cheryl and Fitz took her under their wing and gave her projects and responsibilities even when she didn't think she was ready. That was 7 1/2 years ago and getting involved is the best way to learn about all the great things Rotary does and learn about your fellow members. Today she is still learning and looking ahead to many more years with her family of Rotary II.
