MATHCOUNTS

This year marked the twenty-first anniversary of MATHCOUNTS in the Virgin Islands.  MATHCOUNTS gives the talented youth of the Virgin Islands an opportunity to show their mathematical skills and talents through competition.

Rotary II was acknowledged as this year's sponsor of MATHCOUNTS.  President of Rotary II Marilyn Blackhall and Welby Warner were among the "Honored Guests" for this year's MATHCOUNTS.  Other "Honored Guests" included the Honorable Governor John DeJongh, Dr. Lauren Larsen, Sr. Anya Sebastien, Ms. Lisa Hassell-Forde, and Ms. Patricia Natham.  The student participants anxiously listened through remarks, introductions, and instructions.  A very proud President Marilyn communicated that Rotary II was very proud of the winners and offered our congratulations. She continued to also congratulate "all those who participated and worked hard because while it is great to win it is also important and beneficial to compete and to be in the race because trying is what actually makes one a winner".  Also in attendance to show their support from Rotary II were PP Mike Toussaint, Cassie Mallory, Charlotte B. Ramos, Nick Bailey, Bob Kirkpatrick, and PP Ash Newton.
