The Make A Wish Foundation was started thirty years ago in Tucson, Arizona as a result of an ailing child who wanted to be a police officer.  His mother knew a state trooper and together they fulfilled his wish.  The state trooper had a uniform made, and he drove around in the state trooper’s car for two days giving citations to motorists. Neighbors realized that it was something special and wanted to be a part of it; the rest is history.

The USVI Wish organization  is part of the South Florida Chapter; however, it is independent since every penny raised in the USVI, will be used for USVI. The Board of Directors are all volunteers and include:

  • Linda & Arthur Starr
  • Mary Gleason
  • Mary Ferreras
  • Tom Bolt
  • Lorraine Baa

Rotarian Starr says that the big challenge is to let everyone know that Make A Wish exists in the USVI.  He asks that we spread the word, tell your family, and friends that Make A Wish “grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy”.
