Eloi was exposed to Rotary II at age 16 when he attended meetings with his mother, the late Beatrice George. His attendance a the meetings sparked excitement about Rotary and what it stood for.

Bob Kirkpatrick sponsored Eloi’s wife, Rosetta, and since the couple was involved in volunteering and charitable work, Eloi thought that it would be a wonderful way to join with others and get a lot more done with the time that they had. Eloi felt that if  Rosetta joined, he could show up at fundraisers, sell tickets, and be a Rotary husband.  Alas, that was not what Pat McCoy had in mind for Eloi.  Pat kept talking to him about joining Rotary whenever he attended the meetings with Rosetta.  She even went further and called him one night and told him that she had signed him up for membership and he had to attend the membership meeting the next day.  He attended the meeting, learned more about Rotary, subsequently joined Rotary, and has had no regrets.
