Why I Became a Rotarian...DG Diana White
DG Diana became a Rotarian through a process that she believes is called: osmosis”. She joined Inner Wheel in England in 1982 and when she came to St. Thomas in 1987 she transferred to the Inner Wheel Club there; she is still a member of the Inner Wheel Club of St. Thomas.
Prior to moving to St. Thomas, DG Diana and her husband Roger had been in Tortola where Roger joined the Rotary Club of Tortola in 1979. The Rotary Club of Tortola was very active and family oriented club and she was indeed involved in the Club in that she “assisted” Roger by preparing the Treasurer’s reports for him since he didn’t have time to do the books. She says that Roger loves to tell the story of when he was asked to do a report as treasurer and the Club’s president said, “Don’t ask him any questions because Diana is not here”.
After DG Diana had raised her two children and became a working woman again, she was delighted when Jim Hague invited her to join Rotary in 1994. It has been a long process, but it paid off since we have the “World’s Best DG”.
