Rotarian Marie said that everything which is the 4-way test was put into her from the time she was born.  She attended a Catholic School, lived next to a convent; therefore, "service above self" was on the menu all the time.  Her volunteerism started when the city council outside Paris created a club for the elderly and in turn they helped the parents with children.

She came to St. Thomas and helped Rotary St. Thomas with the shipping of clothing, medicines, etc. to Haiti since she had lived in Haiti for a couple years.  She was invited to join Rotary St. Thomas; however, she did not like the idea principally because:

  • Rotary St. Thomas is called the "checkbook" club and she couldn't afford that part of it
  • She wanted to join Rotary II because of the reputation of having way more fun and that suited her better.

Rotarian Marie feels that our projects are good ones, and we make a lot of money just selling our raffle tickets and she is happy to be a member of Rotary II.
