Our guest speaker, Dr. Wanda Mills-Bocachica

Our meeting was blessed by Rotarian Rosetta George. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Rotarian Krim Ballentine and PP Ash Newton. Rotarian Ida White thanked Rotarians Barbara Peterson, Bob Kirkpatrick, and Toya Andrews for their particpation as the judges for the 2008 Miss Addelita Cancryn Junior High School (ACJHS)competition.  ACJHS is our adopted school so we were especially proud that we had proper Rotary II representation at the event.

President Erva thanked all those that assisted at the Bethlehem Soup Kitchen to include Rotarian Barbara, who also hosted the REACH radio show the previous weekend, Secretary Eric Baynes and his wife, and of course Eloi and Rosetta George who have been so passionate about the Soup Kitchen these past years.

PP Ash Newton, this year's car raffle manager, thanked the top raffle sellers from our club so far this year: Boaty, Lambert, Cassie, Prez Erva, Lou, PP Horace, PP Archie, PP Ash, Allan, and Hank.  Remember to return all sold ticket books and monies to PP Ash asap!

Dr. Wanda Mills-Bocachica, Director of Planning for the Department of Planning & Natural Resources, was our guest speaker.  Her presentation's topic was "Where To, Virgin Islands: An Urban Planner's Insight".  As an Urban Planner, she envisions the future by looking at present cultural, sociological, and environmental issues within a society. Dr. Bocachica shared that no matter where she has worked around the world, her planning initiatives are always inspired by St. Thomas, Charlotte Amalie in particular.  Her presentation was quite motivating to say the least!
