SPOTLIGHT- VALERIE A. GEORGE
Past President Valerie (Val) George is a Licensed Independent Business & Management Consultant, and nationally certified trainer. Valerie was granted a Doctor of Education from the University of Illinois, a Master of Education Administration from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Virgin Islands. She retired from thirty years of government service in May, 2003. Her public service included holding the positions of founding executive director of Beacon Schools of the Virgin Islands, Inc., school district superintendent, state and district activity center directorships, program coordinator positions, and teacher.
Valerie is a nationally certified trainer for the Spencer Johnson Partners Who Moved My Cheese? Program; Red Tree Leadership and Development Management Essentials Program; National Association of Partners in Education Collaborative Leadership Program; American Express/Caribbean Hotel Association/Johnson & Wales University "Total Service: the Caribbean is Quality" Program, and the U.S. Department of Interior Island Business Link.Com Program.
Rotarian Val currently provides consulting, training, research, needs assessment, strategic planning, project and concept development services for numerous entities such as the University of the Virgin Islands, HOVENSA, the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce, the St. Thomas/St. John Hotel Association, United Way – St. Thomas/St. John, the V.I. Board of Education, the V.I. Department of Tourism, the V.I. Office of Management and Budget, the V.I. Department of Education, The West Indian Company Limited, the VI Department of Labor, V.I. Lottery, VITRAN, Maho Bay Campgrounds, Working World, Inc., Work Able, Inc., VI Resource Center for the Disabled' U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Program, and V.I. FIND Inter Island Parent Coalition for Change. She, also, developed the content, textbook and is the course instructor for the UVI Community Engagement & Lifelong Learning Tour Operator Certification Program.
