The District Membership Chair, Andre Hylton visited the Virgin Islands last week after having to postpone his first visit due to weather conditions.  Rotary II club members and all who heard his presentation felt "it was a presentation worth waiting for."

Visiting the Virgin Islands from Kingston, Jamaica, DMC, Andre Hylton encouraged members to plan tocome to Jamaica for the 2010 District meeting.

DMC Andre was an exciting and enthusiastic speaker who spoke interestingly about the concept that if Rotary is to be ongoing and perpetuate, it has to change.  Change, though is about the kind of change that the Rotarian membership  will bring to the table to  encourage others to join Rotary, particularly  young professionals, and entrepreneurs.

He stressed that the 'old' concept of joining Rotary to  increase one's business' flow and professional standing is not what will encourage new members to join.  He encouraged Rotarians to invite friends to the club meetings and to make it fun for the new members. However, he stated that it is important for Rotarians to support other Rotarians who are in business.   His presentation invited many questions from the floor.  Rotary II was very pleased to have DMC Andre Hylton as our guest speaker, because while, the undertone of his comments were both  serious and humorous, many of his comments were very thought provoking, and perceptive highlighting for me our Rotary 2009 theme, "The Future Of Rotary Is In Your Hands."
