Last week after President Simon officially opened our meeting with the ringing of our great Rotary bell, Rotarian Ida did the blessing, PP Erva led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Rotarian Yvette recited the Four Way Test.
Our guests included visiting Rotarians Waring Partridge from The Rotary Club of St. Thomas and Virginia Brown all the way from the Rotary Club of Goose Creek in South Carolina. Fellow Rotarians who invited guests included Marie Hermann with guests Glendora Husband and Mauvernon Liburd, PP Mike Toussaint with wife Jennifer, and PP Yvonne Thraen with Tregenza Roach.

Our rafflemaster was Rotarian Cassie Mallory and she collected $185 buckaroos! PP Beris Lynch was the happy-go-very-lucky $92 raffle winner. PP Mike's wife Jennifer won a chance at the $663 joker card draw...drum rooolllll...no dice! Maybe DG Errol will bring some "One Love" Jamaican luck with him to our next meeting. It's time someone walked away with the ole bucket o' cash!

Sergeant-At-Arms Ray Barry initiated a collection for our luncheon's entertainers - JAZZ LAKE. Jazz prodigy sax player Malachi Thomas and his band JAZZ LAKE are three seniors and one sophomore from the Charlotte Amalie High School. These kids play brass instruments like no one else! They played our jazz favorites to include "Take the 'A' Train" and "St. Thomas". Needless to say, they received a well-deserved standing ovation for shutting-it-down and we collected $101 for Jazz Lake. BTW, Malachi is the younger brother of The Rotaract Club of St. Thomas II's Secretary, Sadio Thomas.

We will be welcoming District 7020 Governor Errol Alberga and his wife Leonie at our next meeting. In addition, we will be inducting a new Rotarian - Sinclair Wilkinson. Sinclair is well respected in our community as a career-long educator and starter of a great Chess movement here in the U.S. Virgin Islands. His proud sponsor is our Honorable Assistant District Governor Cheryl George-Chance.

Our annual Dictionary Distribution Project is scheduled for this Wednesday at 9am at the Lockhart Elementary School. We're looking forward to seeing the beaming faces of the third-graders who will be receiving our great gift of dictionaries!

Attention ALL Rotarians, Foundation Chair PP Marilyn Blackhall is expecting all of our participation in this year's Paul Harris/Rose Council Awards Dinner. Thanks in advance to those of you that already have started to support this year's fundraiser that will support our Annual Programs Fund and Polio Plus.

Board of Directors, please be reminded that our November board meeting will be held this Wednesday at 10am in the Marriott's Island Rooms.

If you missed a meeting in October, you have an opportunity to submit your meeting makeup to me "in writing" at our next meeting or via email: charlotte.brownramos@firstbankvi.com. I must receive your makeup prior to my monthly District Attendance reporting. This means you have up to two (2) weeks after the last meeting of the month (which for October was October 28th) to submit your October meeting makeup(s). And yes, all the great community service and fellowships we participate in count as makeups.

Our second First Friday fellowship is scheduled for this Friday at The Cellar (next to the East End Cafe) in Red Hook from 6pm until "the cops come a knockin" LOL!! I'll be there, will you?
