Sinclair Wilkinson is one of the newest Rotarians to join Rotary II.  He brings an exciting array of talent and experience to the table, and is not a newcomer to Rotary.  In 1997, he received a Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary East.

Rotarian Sinclair's roots go back to the Caribbean island of Nevis.  As a youngster, he joined his Mom in the Virgin Islands, where she lived in St. John.  He attended All Saints Episcopal school in St. Thomas and later graduated fom Charlotte Amalie High School with the class of '68.  In 1972 after graduating from the then, College of the Virgin Islands, he joined the faculty as a Social Studies teacher at the then, Nazareth Bay High School.   Throughout the next 29 years, Rotarian Sinclair was a "man for all seasons"  for the Department of Education serving at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, as a Social Stuudies Teacher, and Principal.  Additionally during this period, he served as Assistant Principal at Charlotte Amalie  High School.  Rotarian Sinclair also served as Administrator and teacher in the Adult Educaion program, as well as other short term effective programs for the Department of Education, i.e. PROJCT S.E.A.R.C.H.

In addition to a full schedule,  Rotarian Sinclair was an adjunct instructor at the University of the Virgin Islands for several years.  and, for several years after his retirement, he supervised the student teaching proram in the education division of the University of the Virgin Islands.

Over the past twenty five yers, Rotarian Sinclair has taught chess to hundreds of students and adults. He has organized many chess clubs in various elementary public and private schools.  He has represented the U.S. Virgin Islands in the World Chess Olympiad internationally, playing first board as recently as 2007 in Germany.  In July, 2009,he participated in a USCF World Open chess tournament in Philadelphia.  Throughout his career, Rotarian Sinclair has received many awards too numerous to  mention in this forum.  However, he is the author of a newly published book entitled,  Chess A Fun Game To Learn and Play

He holds a B.A. degeree in Social Studies Education from the College of the Virgin Islands, a M.A. degree in Education from the University of Connecticut and a sixth Year Specialist Diploma in Education also from the University of Connecticut.
