Chairperson Ida White Makes A Personal Appeal

Mentoring is built around lasting and trusting one-on-one relationships. It is designed to foster a greater sense of self-worth and aspiration as well as assisting in the achievement of a young person's key life milestones. The evidence clearly shows that mentoring expands horizons, heightens expectations and improves academic performance for the beneficiary. As a mentor, you in turn, will experience a profound sense of satisfaction and personal development from helping a young person. Society also benefits from the lasting, trusting relationships that arise from the mentoring process.  According to Chairperson Ida White, "In order for Rotary II to be successful with our mentoring program through ENRICH, we need at least 3 male Mentors.  PP Arthur Newton has agreed to participate, and I am asking for the same support from other male Rotarians.  Our youth particularly our young males need the kind of guidance and direction that a male Mentor can give.  Many of them have significant female relationships (mother, aunts, and sisters), please help us give them a concerned and caring male role model from Rotary II, the best Rotary club in the most eastern part of the United States." Since then, fellow Rotarian Elliot Mac Davis has also volunteered!

Fellow male Rotarians, please share your experience and expertise with a young person.  Sign up now by contacting Chairperson White at aidawhite@msn.com or Co-chair Michele Downes at micheledownes@hotmail.com.
