Dr. Sheena Walker Speaks
Dr. Sheena Walker, Executive Director of 'Going Against the Grain Peace Coalition', gave highlights on the organization which was founded in response to the growing crime and unrest in our communities across America. It is headquartered in the USVI and its primary focus is to be a proactive solution against crime. When crime takes place, it is actually the end result of how people value and respect each other. At Going Against theGrain Peace Coalition, the promotion of peace before conflicts or unfortunate situations arises, would reduce crime and promote healthy people.
Going Against the Grain Peace Coalition is presently engaged in "The 7-Year Project" in which they will be sending well-deserved students to the Sevn World Wonders over the next seven years; however, the community must work together to make it happen. After registering, students will be required to write an essay of a book they read. The student who writes the most substantive and critically wrtten essay will be selected as the winner. Parents and the community are asked to be sponsors. The names of each donor and the number of students they sponsored will be published in local newspapers after the project is completed.
