Rotary II Milestones
1979
First meeting (provisional) of the Rotary Club of St. Thomas II at the Virgin Isle Hotel.
First Sergeant-at-Arms was Thomas "Tom" Lawrence.
1980
Rotary Club of St. Thomas II established its Foundation.
1981
First "Man of the Year" was Wilbur "Bill" LaMotta.
1982
Rainbow Fund was established.
1986
First "All Rotarian" softball team, the Rotary Big Wheels, played in the Susthenes Vialet modified pitch league in the 1986-87 season.
KATS Program was launched.
1987
First Math Counts competition was sponsored by our Club.
Club received Presidential Citation.
1989
Anna's Retreat Senior Citizen Center adopted.
1990
First woman "Person of the Year" was Dilsa R. Capdeville.
1993
1995
First Macon M. Berryman Scholarship awarded.
1996
Valerie George elected Club President-first woman so elected.
1997
RI President Glen W. Kinross visits
First Rotary/Lions Health Fair Expo.
2001
RI President Frank J Devlyn visits
2003
First youth exchange student, Natacha Van dePutt of
70% of the membership are Paul Harris fellows.
r.e.a.c.h. Radio program (Rotary educating &caring for humanity) began.
2004
Club begins celebration of its 25th anniversary.
2005
Club donates $200,000.00 to the Charlotte Kimmelman Cancer Institute.
