Please join us Wednesday the 10th to welcome visiting Rotarian, Sarah Richardson from Iowa City's noon club. Sarah will talk about Paul Harris, founder of Rotary, who attended law school at the University of Iowa as well as many other interesting Iowa Rotary events and initiatives. Sarah has also agreed to lead us in song--hers is a singing Rotary club. This is going to be a fun meeting, I promise.
Hopefully Ian will be on hand to give us an update on the Blues Blow Out scheduled for next month.
Valentine Orchid Sale is this week--Wednesday and Thursday--and we need volunteers to man the table. Please plan on a two hour stint. All proceeds will go to Polio Plus, Rotary International's initiative to end polio worldwide.
President Alecia was on the mainland last week, so we thought we would surprise her with a strategic plan!
We bemoaned the fact UVI's extension at the Marketplace has closed, as it was such a great place to have video conference meetings on St. John. Many suggestions of things that make a Rotary meeting successful (besides all of you, who attend) were made: fellowship, food, parking, available services, programs and speakers, were but a few.
Discussion of interesting speakers included representatives from various government agencies, health providers, insurance providers, emergency services, National Park experts, and many more.
But we had the most fun thinking of the many many St. Johnians who would be great members and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club! Our membership drive is about to start in earnest.
Stay tuned...
