Once you are up for a 7:30 am Wednesday St. John Rotary meeting at Gallows Point, the remainder of the day is easy “like Sunday morning!”
This week,at our Wednesday meeting, please help us welcome our new St. John head of tourism, Cynthia Jurgen, for an update on Tourism plans for our island.
We had a wonderful meeting on April 22nd and two visiting Rotarians, Jeanne and Ted, brought us some interesting ideas for projects, some of which we presently do.
Jim Heskett also visited and spoke about plans for cleaning the cemetery at Found Out, providing sidewalks and benches for sitting during the burials for those of us who need to rest our knees. He is particularly interested in cleaning the final resting places of veterans. I have shared his information with Maria Lett of the auxiliary and Aubrey Sewer.
St. Joh Rotary is moving ahead with many initiatives to benefit the St. John community from the youth to the seniors, and we are being contacted by EDC companies, private individuals and YOUNG people about what we do and the possibility of becoming a Rotarian!
Coral Bay basketball update has us trying to get the new Commissioner of Public Works, Gustaf James, to sign off on allowing the VI Paving asphalt contribution to count as part of their EDC requirements. A low quote was offered for the bleacher labor and fence repair, but the contractor is not insured, so we are appealing to the professional contractor community for help getting this done.
