Join Chuck Pishko at this week's meeting for one of his favorite backtime St. John stories --sure to be interesting! Noon at Westin's Lemongrass restaurant
December 14th meeting will be an evening holiday social at Joan Bermingham's house. Let Joan know you are coming (776-6182), bring a friend, and either an appetizer, side dish or dessert. We have some bottles of wine from Flavors, and will make a rum punch, but other beverages will be welcome. Joan is going to make a delicious steak entree. Her house overlooks Great Cruz Bay and there is parking along the road. 5:45 pm More info next week, but put it on your calendar!
Exciting news from Estate Concordia Eco Resort! Holland Duell, principal of La Vie Resorts, joined us on Wednesday from Charleston, South Carolina. Buying the resort from St. John classic, Stanley Selengut, is a "work in progress" and we wish Holland well with his vision for the aging camp. Holland came to St. John twenty years ago, renting a tent and meeting Stanley in the process. He started building comparable structures in South Carolina and is anxious to continue to expand upon the eco concept at Concordia. With a tourism background and a passion for the environment, Holland is the perfect match for St. John. From college he went to Venezuela to build an ecologically sound camp. His concept of Positive Impact Tourism includes sustainability, economic benefits, ecological care, community interface, team wellness and design sensitivity. All of which should help Concordia thrive, while providing sensible stewardship of our natural home.
