By the time you receive this edition, we trust that District Governor Felix Stubbs and his wife, Rotarian Carla, will be safely back in the Bahamas after a whirlwind visit to District 7020 and in particular USVI North. We had an insightful and productive meeting with them, where many questions were answered and advice offered. The DG's theme of "Success to Significance" resonated with us as we reminded ourselves of the successes of St. John Rotary, but more importantly the significance which will live on in the hearts of generations to come. We, therefore, commit ourselves to this transformation.
Flavors--A Taste of St. John, was very successful this year, with wonderful food, a great band, and over fifty silent auction items. We missed Bruce's organizational skills, but Ian and Symone took the ball and knocked it out of the park! The brunch at Gallows Point's 362, held the next morning, was also a great success, and quite tasty.
Work on the Coral Bay basketball court has stalled and the search is on for a new tarmac provider-- the company we had originally contracted with is closing its doors.
We had an enjoyable 'holiday cheer' gathering before Christmas, solidifying the fifth part of the Four Way Test--Is it fun? And were presented an uncontested slate of officers for 2016-2017 by the Nominating Committee. They are:
President - B. J. Harris
Vice President/President-Elect - Ian Samuel
Secretary - Angela Coleman
Treasurer - Lauren Hunter
Immediate Past President - Alecia M. Wells
Director - Joan Bermingham
Director - Symone James
Director - Dave Carlson
Director - Sharon Coldren
B. J., Ian, and Angela will be attending Rotary leadership training next weekend on St. Thomas, and are sure to provide strong leadership for many years to come.
The Rotary Club of St. John will participate in the St. John Cancer Fund's Light up the Night January 23-24. Please let us know if you will be on our team!
Until next time remember: Consistency of Purpose is the Key to Success.
