Now that the books are in the little hands of each child on St. John, (and I trust that similar situations exist in St. Thomas and St. Croix) we are fully onto FLAVORS--A TASTE OF ST. JOHN, which is planned for November 21st at the Westin Villas and Spa.
FLAVORS is our main fundraising event each year and monies raised are used to support the club's literacy and community efforts-- college scholarships to local graduating seniors, school supplies to every pre-k, kindergarden, first and second grader, dictionaries to every third grader and planners to every other student on St. John. This year we were able to give a $5000 scholarship in addition to two (2) smaller scholarships to amazing young St. Johnians. Although most restaurants are closed for the summer, it is hoped that ALL the restaurants on St. John will take part in FLAVORS 2015.
Ian, Symone and Kai have consented to be chairs and we look forward to a fun-tastic tasting event. Of course none other than Cool Session Brass will provide the music. Bruce Munro, who recently returned to the mainland, did a wonderful job organizing this event for many years; so we look forward to more of the same. Stand by for updates as the time draws near.
We are happy to report that our District Governor will be visiting the US Virgin Islands November 30th to December 4th. He will be on St. John Wednesday December 2nd and our regular meeting that day will be a lunch meeting at Caneel Bay.
We are also happy to report that our goal of at least three (3) new members has been realized.
We can always accept new or returning members. We meet at 8 a.m. at Gallows Point Wednesday mornings except the third Wednesday when we meet at Snorkles at the Westin St. John at 5:30 p.m. and at 12 noon Friday Chateau Bordeaux. We would love to have you visit.
