Letter from Kenya

It is our sincere hope that you and your family are doing well. We are all doing well in Merrueshi community. The children are well and so as our cattle and goats. It is still dry but the rains are slowly approaching. |

For the last few months we have been busy trying to secure a bulldozer from Nairobi City. We needed the bulldozer to desilt several natural waterholes (also known as shallow dams) that have silted up as a result of excessive vegetation growth and soil erosion. After months of waiting, we are pleased to inform you that rehabilitation and construction of six (6) waterholes have just started in Merrueshi Group Ranch. We anticipate to finishing all six waterholes in two weeks. |

The goals for waterhole restoration project are to: · Capture and harvest rainwater, which would otherwise be lost to evaporation or runoff. · Benefit Maasai herders and wildlife at the same time |

The bulldozer is at a site known as Esonorua, Merrueshi Group Ranch. The bulldozer was hired from the Ministry of Agriculture, Kenya.

Also we are currently building a dormitory, a small computer lab, kitchen and dinning hall for Maasai High School. In addition we are building the first Merrueshi Village Clinic. The village clinic project is schedule to start late November and will be completed two months after the start date. |
