Javon Jade Alfred Scholarship 2006-2007
This year's applicants for the Javon Jade Alfred scholarship, awarded by the Rotary Club of St John were all outstanding. This scholarship awards $12,500 over a four year period based on merit and need.
It was a challenge for the scholarship committee to select a winner from this talented group of St John graduating seniors.
The six St John graduating seniors who qualified as finalists for this scholarship are:

â¿¢ Mr. Dennis Powell
â¿¢ Mr. Michael Gibney
â¿¢ Mr. Kershen Bissette
â¿¢ Mr Akeel Thomas
The Rotary Club of St John is pleased to announce that this year's Javon Jade Alfred scholarship has been awarded to Mr. Kershen Bissette. The formal announcement was made by JJ's mother on Saturday, June 3, during a family fun event: Javon's Fun Day held at the National Park ballfield.
Kershen is graduating from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School and has been accepted to attend the school of business at the University of New Haven and pursue a degree in business administration. (click here to see the University of New Haven School of Business website) Upon graduation Kershen plans to attend law school where his goal is to become a corporate lawyer and later return home to pursue the construction of a public high school on St John.
We congratulate Kershen for all his achievements in life and wish him the best in his pursuit of a higher education!
