2008 Community Awards Dinner
Over 80 people turned out for the dinner and festivities at the Ocean Grille in Mongoose Junction for this annual event where St John Rotary recognizes individuals who exemplify Rotary's motto: Service Above Self.
Saturday, October 25th, Rotary of St John honored three outstanding St Johnians for Community and Vocational Service.
Bob Malacarne, the rock of St John Rescue, was honored for his community service. St John Rescue President Chris Jordan summarized his dedication and service to St John, and accepted his award in his absence.
Master of ceremonies PP Ronnie Lockhart reminisced about Mo Chabuz's long history of community service and his leadership in almost every fundraiser or community program on St John for so many years.
And President BJ Harris gave tender and personal coverage of our beloved Dr. Elizabeth Barot, who has fixed broken bones, stitched up wounds, delivered a baby in a hurricane, and in general been there for all of us at the clinic since the 1980's. Dr Barot was recognized for vocational excellence.
Thanks to Bill Willigerod, Vocational Service Chair, for organizing this event again this year, and to Bob Schlesinger, Tropical Focus, for the photos (see photo journal on home page)
