Rotarian David Kirkaldy was born in 1968 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. In 1970 his parents moved to the Cayman Islands where they have made their home ever since.
David was educated through high school in Grand Cayman then attended Loyola University of New Orleans, graduating in 1992 with a BA in Communications.
On returning to the Cayman Islands, David first worked with Atlantis Submarines, before starting a six year stint with Esso Standard Oil, working at the Cayman HQ as the local marketing executive.
In 1998 David left Esso and, with his wife Cristina, he founded Massive Equipment Rental and Sales Ltd., a construction equipment rental business.
Over the past 25 years the firm has become a significant entity in the construction and events rental market of the Cayman Islands and today employs over 40 staff, has a branch office in Cayman Brac, and holds the JCB heavy equipment dealership for the Cayman Islands.
In addition to the rental business, the business group now includes a digital advertising and marketing company, Massive Media Ltd, and a retail fireworks business, Fireworks Ltd.
David is a past president of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce, and was the first chairman of the Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone Authority.
David is married to Christina Godfrey who is originally from Mandeville, Jamaica, and moved with her family to the Cayman Islands in 1977.
David and Christina are the proud parents of a son Ryan, who is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and a daughter Taylor, a graduate of the University of Leeds in the UK.
Outside of work life, David and Christina enjoy travel, and are members of the Cayman Islands Baptist Church. David is a Divemaster, enjoys pickleball, and spin cycling.
David joined the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman in 1995 and has served as the Assistant Governor for the Cayman Islands, the District Endowment & Major Gifts Subcommittee Chair, and the Grants Chair. He was President of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman in the 2005 to 2006 Rotary year.
David is passionate about The Rotary Foundation, supporting it since starting his Rotary journey. He is a Major Donor Level 1, Bequest Society Level 1, and a Benefactor. Christina is also a Paul Harris Society member.
