ROTARY HONORS THE COMMUNITY

Mr Sherlin Williams of Church of God of Prophecy and Dr. Ewan Menzie of Menzies Medical were recipients of the Paul Harris award, the highest recognition Rotary Foundation (Rotary International) bestows to Rotarians and non-Rotarians.  The Club’s Director of Foundation, Art Forbes, who is also the Immediate Past President, in presenting the Paul Harris certificate and pins to the recipients highlighted a service each had performed. 

Mr. Williams spends mentoring youths though basketball in a partnership project with the 100 Black Men of Turks and Caicos Islands.  One Rotarian noted that Mr. Williams was her inspiration to enter her first marathon which will be in Washington, DC.

Mr. Forbes spoke of an incident where a child in need required a doctor and Dr. Menzie was available at the time to assist.  When Mr. Forbes later inquired to Dr. Menzie the amount owed for his service, he learnt the good doctor had waived the fee.

 

President Owen Hamilton remarked both gentlemen are good examples of what Rotary around the world is about, “Service above Self”, the motto of Rotary International.\
