Fellow Rotarians, if you know someone who is interested in learning more about Rotary Sunrise, why not invite them to come with you as your guest? We always welcome guests to our meetings as it helps to share the good works we do as a club in our community. And who knows, they may be so motivated to become a member themselves.
Travelling?
Remember to ask the Club Secretary for a Sunrise Club Banner if you are travelling and intend to visit another club. We have lots of banners to exchange and we'd love to hear about the club you visited upon your return with one of their banners.
Not to mention you can receive make-up credit for your visit to the other club if you need it. Just remember to email the details to secretary@rotarysunrise.ky.

World's Greatest Meal a Success Submitted by Foundation Chair PP Hendrik
Change-Over Night was a great evening in so many ways. Great company, good food and drink, great stories from MC Jonathan, a touching end of the year speech from now IPP JD and President Kim Lighting up Rotary Sunrise for 2014-2015. The evening was our club's second World Greatest Meal Event with all proceeds going towards the eradication of Polio. We raised US$ 1,671 for Polio Plus on Change-Over Night! This amount consisted of the total proceeds from the Raffle, Silent Auction and donations in lieu of fines.
Thank you Rotary Sunrise and especially those who donated prizes for the raffle and the silent auction. Special thanks to multitasking secretary Gina, Rotarian Howard and Director Conor for pulling this off.
Rotary International and especially 2014-2015 RI president Gary Huang are pushing hard to eradicate polio, what helps a lot is that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation match two dollars for every dollar raised by Rotary, so Change-Over Night secured in excess of US$ 5,000!
Incredible, we raised a substantial sum for Polio Plus even before the year started. Thank you and stay tuned for more.
An Evening of Fellowship Under the Stars Submitted by Secretary Gina on behalf of Rotarian Jonathan Adam, Fellowship Committee
After a day of cloud, rain and thunder the evening cleared up to make way for a wonderful night of stargazing under the stars. We had an overwhelming number of registered members and guests for this event - 47 people in total. But sadly, due to the iffy weather during the day we had quite a bit of no shows. However, 25 people did have the pleasure of viewing the moon, Mars, Saturn, two orbiting satellites and a number of nebulous star clusters with use of the Astronomical Society's telescopes.
Fun was had by all as we all eagerly stared at the stars waiting for a "Ukranian" satellite (Iridium satellite constellation) to flare and it just didn't happen. We had a lot of fun under the stars and had a chance to fellowship with Sunrisers, friends, family and even some of our Rotaractors who came very prepared with blankets, wine and drinking glasses to enhance the experience under the stars.
The Astronomical Society was very grateful for the donation of $165 and considering the level of interest from the membership we will likely plan for a fall fellowship when there are more meteor storms taking place.
Sunrise Light Up Agua for Change Over Night
Submitted by Communications Chair Martha
Last Saturday evening over 90 Rotarians, guests, Rotaractors and other service club representatives joined us as we celebrated the Changing of the Guard at Agua restaurant. What a great night of fun and fellowship as we said goodbye to the 2013-2014 Rotary year and said hello to 2014-2015 with lights all a-glow! Immediate past president JD Mosely-Matchett presented well deserved awards to various persons including Rotarian of the Year which went to Gina McBryan and a Paul Harris Fellow to pianist, Mr. Glen Inanga for his great work within the community. President Kim shared the night with the lovely Stacey and his children Jorry and Kourtney who flew in for the occasion. He shared his passion for what it means for him to be a Rotarian and expressed his goals and vision for the coming year.
The night ended with glow sticks and vibrant music as everyone 'light up' Agua and the room buzzed with excitement for the year ahead.
