Computers Donated to Frances Bodden Girls Home
Submitted by Director Deirdre McFarlane

During a visit to the Frances Bodden Girls Home President Kim was made aware of a need for computers as the home for the residents to assist with their homework and school projects. There was also no working printer. VP/Community Service Chair Deirdre made an appeal to club members and received an overwhelming response and was able to secure 5 computers which were donated by Christopher Lumsden which he obtained from his office and also a printer from Barb Anley.
On September 25, 2014, President Kim, Rotarians Kent Green, Jerrell Garner and VP Deirdre were on site to make the donation of the computers and have them installed. Rotarian Kent Green was instrumental in the setting up process. Ms Angela Sealy and a few members of staff along with the residents were looking on anxiously as the Rotarians installed the computers. President Kim and VP Deirdre explained how the computers were obtained and Ms Sealy thanked Rotary Sunrise for the computers and printer donation and for Rotary Sunrise continued support to the FBGH. One of the residents also thanked the Rotarians for the generous donation and explained that the computers donated would go a far way in helping the resident with their schoolwork.

Sunrise Upcoming Club Elections
Submitted by PE Christine Matthews

July 1st 2015, the start of the new Rotary year seems a long way away but preparation as already begun. At a Club level this means Club elections for the officers and directors.
Two positions have already been elected these are President and Immediate Past President. This means that by virtue of being elected to serve as President-elect this year, PE Christine Mathews will be President next year and President Kim as President this year becomes Immediate Past President (IPP).
The structure of the Board varies from year to year, depending on who will be serving as President and the structure they would like to have. This is particularly true of the Director positions.  The incoming President nominates a Board and the slate is presented to the Club and nominations for the positions are invited from the floor. This process is repeated at the next two meetings.
To nominate someone to the Board you need to be a member in goodstanding i.e. your dues need to have been paid. You will need to get permission from the person you are nominating to nominate him/her and they too need to be a member in goodstanding. Once proposed, the nomination will need to be seconded by another member of the Club and the name is then added to the slate. For the following two weeks this process is repeated.
At the 4th meeting of the election cycle, the actual election is held. If there are nominations from the floor then there will be a ballot. If there are no nominations from the floor, a motion will be made to accept the slate put forward, a request will be made for a seconder, and then there will be a vote on the motion.
Members who wish to serve on the Board should be sure to speak to PP Tony or other members of the Club to ensure they are nominated.
PP Tony will be managing the election process for the Club this year and any questions about the process should be directed to him.
