Presidents Message

I did attend the Caribbean Partnership Celebration n Reston, VA near DC last week and through that meeting have a number of new contacts and leads for the Interational area of service.  For those of you that are new, Caribbean Partnership started in 2004/5 (It was called Think Caribbean back then) to encourage clubs n the US and the Caribbean to become partners, to develop friendship and understanding and to do Rotary work together. 

The speaker list was fantastic.  We heard from RI Director John Smarge and Past RI Director Barry Rassin who had just completed another tour of the works being completed in Haiti.  DG Guy also spoke and explained a little more on the work and purpose of the Haiti taskforce.  Past RIBI Director Norman Proctor gave a great talk on the Jaipur Limb Project which has helped hundreds of thousands of people in India and Africa to walk again and to create purpose and a means to make a living in their lives.

A special guest was RI Treasruer Anne, who has recently visited Cayman and who many refer to as the first lady of Rotary.  Her message was to keep doing good work and to remember that people will not remember what you said and may not rememer what you did, but they will remember the way you made them feel.  Rotary makes people feel for their communities.  Her last thought came from a county song and is quite simple "life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" .

I would encourage all of you to take an active role in our rotary projects as the results can take your breath away.
