“Literacy Heals”

HE also started off the reading marathon, a highlight of the event by reading the first chapter of a favorite book. This was followed by other industry leaders, as well the inmates showcased their ability to read resulting from the CIRA programme. Our programme was featured quite prominently in the event and one important factor HE the Governor noted to the inmates is that when he receives a letter requesting early parole for an inmate, the literacy programme and their individual involvement in, is used as a yard-stick and it gives him an extra incentive as to whether they are fit for being released back into to the community.
