Science Fair Meet & Greet

At the formal Meet and Greet event held on March 17th at the Camana Bay Arts & Recreation Centre, Rotary Central President Paul Byles said, "Our sponsors deserve a huge thank you for their generous support of the Fair this year. Cayman National Bank, Caribbean Utilities Company, Greenlight Re, Crusader, AL Thompson, LIME, the Ministry of Education and the Dart organisation have all been incredibly generous in their support of the Fair and really make this a special event for the students and schools involved. " The purpose of the Meet and Greet event was to allow all of the various participants in this year's fair to get to know each other a bit better and get more information on the details of the contest. Mr. Byles also gave much credit to the schools for their involvement and enthusiasm. " It takes the hard work of a great many people to make the Science Fair such a successful event. A huge thank you must go to all of the teachers and administrators in the schools, as well as to students and parents participating in the Fair. Many of the students volunteer mentors were also present at the event. These mentors provide support and guidance to the students on their various projects and share a wealth of knowledge and experience to assist with the students' approach to the projects. Mr. Ray Jones, of UCCI, spoke to the large gathering about how to approach the Science Fair. The students in attendance seemed very excited and enthusiastic as they spoke to mentors about the projects they were planning, and Rotary Central expects another fantastic display of creativity in the final projects presented this May. Also participating in the key event were many of Rotary's Science fair Committee including the club's Vice President Fiona Moseley, Director Ravi Kapoor and a number of other Rotarians. This Science Fair is a competition that is held annually in the Cayman Islands to generate interest and excitement in the scientific fields and introduce students to new career opportunities. Students will compete for major cash prizes, which will assist them with future college studies.
